Could you please tell us something about yourself?
I am Madhusudanan Parthasarathy hailing from Chennai, India. I am a software consultant by profession and photography is my serious hobby.

Can you briefly tell us about your photographic background? When did you start taking photographs, how did you start?
I am fond of taking photographs. I used to take photographs whenever I travelled. I wanted to take up my interest on photography to next level. This is when I bought my DSLR from where my photography journey has started and I believe there is no destination for this journey. It keeps going.

What photographic style do you prefer? Would you like to specialize in a specific area, such as street photography or travel / landscape photography?
I prefer Black & white photographs and use colour wherever applicable. I like to specialize in Street photography and at times I travel whenever I feel saturated.

Can you tell us how your work flows from the moment you get the idea to the stage of final presentation?
I set out for photography with just blank ideas on my mind. Expect the unexpected. Enjoy the shoot and if am lucky I get some good photographs.

Could you possibly provide a tip to the amazing photograph style, how much the pictures are processed afterwards, and what else one should take into consideration?
Have your own definition of photography.  As with respect to street photography, the more the photograph is good lesser the editing required.

In your opinion, what constitutes the art of producing extraordinary travel / landscape photographs, and what are the characteristics of a good picture in this field?
I believe there are no specific characteristics for any art. A good photography should make one look twice and should give a feel for what you are trying to portray or convey. An extraordinary travel/landscape photograph gets produced only when you got real love for that place. The more you love, the more pictures will be good.

What equipment do you use and what are your favorite focal lengths?
I use Nikon D5100 with sigma 10-20mm, Nikor 55-200mm and Nikor 50mm 1.8D.
My favorite focal lengths are f/4 and f/8.

What characterizes your work in comparison to other photographers?
I never tried comparing my work but I really love to see other’s work and their style.

Were there interesting incidents in your photo shoots, whether funny, embarrassing or sad?
I once had an embarrassing sad moment which when I think of tend to be funny. I was documenting people’s life style in a metro railway station. When I was about to finish my shoot, I was held back by the railway officials for interrogation. Finally, they left me when they saw my photographs. Because I was doing some photography in low light and all of them were shaky blur images.

What are the most important experiences you had during your photographic career?
The experience of travel, the experience to view rather just to see and the experience of meeting people.

What advice would you give to a newbie for his/her photographic career?
The best way to learn is to keep shooting on and on and on.

Were you inspired by other photographers, and if so, which ones?
I see lot of other photographer’s work from great masters to my peers. I learn a lot by observing other’s work. I am amazed by the works of Hari Menon from India, Stefano Corso and Alex webb.

Do you have a dream for photography that you would like to fulfill?
To be honest, I don’t have a dream as such for photography. It is more associated with your thought process and gets evolved as you go deeper into the art of photography.

Would you like to tell us about something that is important to you?
Criticisms are the most important factors for me. It is so difficult to get a good critic. It helps you mould your portfolio.

Thank you very much for this interview. We will follow your progress in photography and will continue to be inspired by it.Thanks a lot Phicutres. I take this moment to thank all of my family and friends who have extended their support for where I am today.  Without them, the journey is incomplete.
