Could you please tell us something about yourself?

I was born in Ancona where I still live today. That’s a city in the center area of Italy not that far away from Rome. My dayjob is in computer science and in software development. Music and photography are the two areas where I can express myself at the best.
Sono nato ad Ancona dove tutt’ora vivo, una città del centro Italia. Mi occupo di informatica e sviluppo del software per microcomputer. Musica e fotografia sono le forme di espressione che più mi rappresentano.
Can you briefly tell us about your photographic background? When did you start taking photographs, how did you start?
Puoi parlarci brevemente della tua esperienza fotografica? Quando hai iniziato, come hai iniziato?
My journey with photography began back to 2007, when digital world revolution (mainly computer graphic and web design) was mature enough to me. Since that time my passion for photography never fell down.
La mia esperienza fotografica comincia a seguito della piena convergenza e maturità del mondo digitale (computer, grafica e web design) intorno al 2007. Da allora la passione è divenuta inarrestabile.
What photographic style do you prefer?
Qual è lo stile fotografico che preferisci?
I find myself at the best with landscape photography which constantly fills my ability to dream. The chasing of perfect light is definitely the matter which makes bold my style.
Nella fotografia di paesaggio trovo la fonte inesauribile di ispirazione. La luce è sicuramente l’elemento distintivo e determinante del mio stile fotografico ed è alla sua continua ricerca che destino tutte le mie energie e la mia passione.
Can you tell us how your work flows from the moment you get the idea to the stage of final presentation?
Ci puoi raccontare come gestisci il flusso di lavoro dal momento dell’idea alla fase di presentazione finale?
First of all please let me to stress out that I believe photographs comes out straight from the digital camera! The approach (or the believe) to “make” photographs later on computer through postproduction is something which keeps away from on-field creativity and pretty often kills the ability to stay focused and sometime led to miss opportunities which can always come suddenly. I strongly believe that if you’re committed to get the best out of what you have on field, results will be widely better and pretty often unexpected. I manage directly the post process going from the data-card importing to the archiving management down to the export into the right file format based on the final usage is meant for. Camera Raw is the tool I use for the first file management.
Premetto che sono sempre stato un assertore del fatto che la fotografia si fa direttamente in macchina. Scattare porzioni di immagini avendo in mente un prodotto finito da creare successivamente in postproduzione, a mio modo di vedere, riduce la creatività e distoglie energie mentali necessarie sul campo. Sono fermamente convinto che con l’idea di giocarsi tutto al momento dello scatto si realizzano fotografie nettamente più interessanti e convincenti. Gestisco personalmente il processo di sviluppo dei negativi attraverso un workflow che va dall’importazione e catalogazione dei files fino all’esportazione nel formato corretto ed ottimizzato per l’uso che ne devo fare al momento. Camera RAW è lo strumento software che utilizzo per il rendering di base.
What equipment do you use and what are your favorite focal lengths?
Che equipaggiamento utilizzi e quali sono le lunghezze focali che preferisci?
I use a Canon Full Frame SLR with a wide series of lenses starting from 16mm up to 400mm. Lee NDG filters, polarizer, tripod and other small but useful accessories.
Nel mio lavoro utilizzo una Canon Full Frame SLR con lenti da 16mm fino a 400mm. Filtri NDG Lee, polarizzatore, treppiede ed altri piccoli accessori.
What characterizes your work in comparison to other street photographers / landscape photographers?
Cosa contraddistingue il tuo lavoro rispetto a quello di altri fotografi di street/paesaggio?
I always make an extensive evaluation of light available, composition and color balance. Those are basic elements which make my passion for photography growing more and more. Furthermore those are also key elements to draw “my landscape” into a photo.
Studio della luce, composizione e resa cromatica sono tutti elementi che alimentano la mia passione per la fotografia e credo che questi siano gli elementi fondamentali in grado di trasmettere realmente l’idea di un “mio” paesaggio.
Were there interesting incidents in your photo shoots, whether funny, embarrassing or sad?
Ricordi qualche “incidente” durante i tuoi servizi fotografici, sia esso divertente, imbarazzante o triste?
Well …the worst was when I was standing in front of my Canon 5D Mark II while it was falling down into deep water… few tears were falling into the same water straight after.
Purtroppo ho avuto la brutta avventura di vedere la mia Canon 5D II cadere in mare. E con lei anche una mia lacrima ☺
What are the most important experiences you had during your photographic career?
Quali sono le esperienze più importanti che hai avuto nella tua carriera fotografica?
I was lucky enough to meet valuable people who taught me a lot, both from professional and human side. I believe the ability to share is the best way to improve myself…
Ho conosciuto molte persone dalle quali ho imparato tanto, sia sotto l’aspetto professionale che umano. Credo che il saper condividere rappresenti il modo giusto per migliorarsi.
What advice would you give to a newbie for his/her photographic career?
Che consiglio daresti ad un principiante per la sua carriera fotografica?
Each of us can rely on the latest and best gear available to catch photographs highly professional. Our ability to properly „see“: that’s where we have to focus to improve. Ability to see the surrounding is the key for success.
Ognuno di noi ha la fortuna e la capacità di poter contare sull’attrezzatura migliore al mondo per poter scattare professionalmente fotografie di paesaggio e non solo. I nostri “occhi”! E’ li che bisogna investire. Saper vedere è la chiave del successo.
Were you inspired by other photographers, and if so, which ones?
Ci sono stati fotografi che ti hanno ispirato nella tua crescita, e se sì, quali?
Yes, of course I am inspired by a lot of good landscape photographers, such us Galen Rowell, Joe Cornish and others like Marc Adamus or Patrick di Fruscia.

Do you have a dream for photography that you would like to fulfill?
Hai un sogno nella fotografia che vorresti realizzare?
I wish I could earn enough money with photography but I know that it’s and will remain impossible. But for sure I’ll use all energy and any possible efforts for such beautiful passion!
Mi piacerebbe poter vivere ogni giorno la fotografia, ma so che è e sarà impossibile. Spazio dunque a tutte le mie energie nel tempo che potrò dedicare a questa meravigliosa passione.
