Jeff is a photographer from the Netherlands. Looking at his pictures, I was immediately drawn into the spell. It is his unique photographic style, in which he manages perfectly to emphasize his feelings about the character of an image, to plainly and simply transform his talent into pictures that sets him apart from the image flood from the masses and positively distinguishes him from others. I wouldn’t like to fit Jeff into a specific style; his pictures are not classic portraits or street photography, neither are they pure cinematic photos. They rather are a combination of these three, and he constantly changes the combination. In this way, he manages to perfectly capture the mood and the theme. Whereas in pure street photography black and white photos often dominate, Jeff consciously works with color and light. Sometimes there are warm tones, then again the somewhat cooler ones, always perfectly matched to the situation. They therefore add that certain something to the stories that Jeff’s pictures tell, to make them exciting and interesting. As he so aptly says, to him, the key to a great picture is the atmosphere around his motives. This can be dramatic or simply peaceful and gentle. I consider Jeff as exceptionally talented, especially here in Europe, especially when one considers that he has only started in photography in 2008, and then only as a sideline.
